Technique:
Sichi's
use of material is an important expressive technique in his work.
Pre-made
transparent elements, which have been fabricated by pouring acrylic medium into
wax moulds using a self-developed process, are afterwards pasted on linen or
Plexiglas. These transparent reliefs combine in varying ways with acrylic
paint.
Some
paintings are totally colorless and appear to exist only out of light, light
that shines directly through the work and thus forming an image. In other
paintings the transparent embossment is pasted on the supporting ground as a
second painting, nonetheless integrating the material. These "double
meanings" create a play between the image on the Plexiglas and the
underlying paintings, which is about 3 centimeters underneath.
Always
central to his imagery, is the human being struggling with his own thoughts.
